Heskell Lee "Jack" Hammond, Age 94
Logan, Ohio
Died Monday, October 6, 2008, in Logan Health Care Center, Logan, Ohio.
Born May 7, 1914, in Marion Township, Hocking County, Ohio.
Son of the late Elmer Ray and Edith (Denny) Hammond
Mr. Hammond was a sign manufacturer, having owned and operated Hammond Signs and Hammond Bulletins in Logan, Ohio, for numerous years.
Graduated from Marion Township High School in 1932
A band leader of a 12 piece dance band in the 1930's having played for school proms and alumni dances in this area.
U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific
Formerly worked for Sun Glow Furniture Factory in Logan for 11 years.
Member of the New Straitsville Historical Society
Member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Logan,  having served as a trustee for several years.
Survivors:
    Wife........................Eleanor May (Gaver) Hammond (with whom he had
                                           been married for 69 years)
    Daughter-in-law..........Carol Ann (Smith) Hammond-------Columbus, Ohio
    Two brothers..............Lester (Patty) Hammond--------------Newark, Ohio
                                     Oakey (Margaret) Hammond---------Logan, Ohio
    One sister..................Juanita Derr-----------------------------Sun City, Florida
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Lee Hammond (1943); son Robert Lee "Bob" Hammond (1995); and a brother, Ray Hammond  Jr., who lost his life in World War II.
Funeral service will be held  11:00 am, Friday 10, 2008, at the Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, with Rev. David G. Maze, officiating.
Burial will be in the New Lexington Cemetery, New Lexington, Ohio.
Friends may call Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
