Herbert Leroy Smith, age 78, of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Albion, Pennsylvania went to be with his Lord, whom he loved
and served faithfully Friday, April 17, 2009 at his residence.
Born July 23, 1930 in Chickasaw, Pennsylvania he was
the son of the late George W. and Florence Ida (Sanford) Smith.
Mr. Smith had served the Lord as Pastor of the Church
of Jesus Christ in God for over 35 years. He was a faithful and devoted husband and a loving father to his daughters. He was
a U.S. Army Veteran, loved music, playing the guitar and songwriting, especially for his grandchildren; an avid sportsman,
and loved hunting, fishing, baseball and golf.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Helen Louise (Welsh)
Smith, four daughters, Margaret (Paul) Rea, Donna (Gerald) Whisman, Melinda (Michael) Robinson and Patricia (Bryan) Yeske;
fourteen grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother Clyde W. Smith and sister Emmaline Raybuck.
Besides his parents
he was preceded in death by infant son Jimmy Smith.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Monday, April 20, 2009 at
Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Reverend Steve Delong and Reverend Barry Coffey.
Burial will be in Knollwood
Cemetery, Falls Township, Hocking County, Ohio, where military service will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
