Thomas Floyd
Sammons, Sr., Age 70 of Logan, Ohio passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009 in Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster, Ohio.
Born April 16, 1939 in Logan, West Virginia he was the son of
the late Ray and Mamie Sammons.
Mr. Sammons
was a union coal miner for 47 years for the Island Creek Coal Company of
Craigsville,
West Virginia. Lifetime member of the NRA, Gamebird enthusiast, an avid hunter, knife collector, loving husband and father.
He is survived by wife Elizabeth Rose (McGill) Sammons of Union
Furnace, Ohio; three sons, Jack (Rose) Sammons of Union Furnace, Ohio, T.D. (Patty) Sammons of Laurelville, Ohio and Joe Sammons
of Union Furnace, Ohio; two daughters, Debbie Sammons and Doris Ann (Tim) Stevens all of Logan, Ohio; two step-sons, Ronald
(Melanie) Raleigh and Kenneth (Kim) Raleigh; one brother, Paul (Alma) Sammons of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; one sister Lillian (Franklin)
Farmer of LaCrosse, Virginia; seventeen grandchildren, Angie (AJ) Morris, Rebekah, Phillip, Hannah, Haleigh, David, Derrick,
Angel and Taylor Sammons, Joshua and Tommy Joe Reed, Amber and Steven Menchowski, Jason, Brittney, Michael and
J.J. Raleigh and Dylan Rutter; four great-grandchildren and many, many friends.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by son, J. R. Sammons (2007), grandson, Tyler Sammons
and brother, Lloyd Sammons.
Funeral Service will
be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Roberts Funeral Home, Logan, Ohio with Brother Jeff Snodgrass officiating.
Burial will follow in the Old Baptist Cemetery, Laurel Township,
Hocking County, Ohio.
Friends may call Tuesday
from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
