Winifred Dougherty, age 94, passed away Saturday, January 23, 2010 at her residence in Logan, Ohio.

Born December 23, 1915 in Morrow County, Ohio. Daughter of the Late Pearl Samuel and Lottie Jane (Allen) Rathburn, she was the widow of John C. "Jack" Dougherty who passed away April 17, 1992.

Winifred was a 1933 graduate of Logan High School. She made her commitment to God in the Church of God at age 19, taught a children's Sunday School Class, later attending and teaching a class at Smith Chapel Methodist Church. For many years, she tithed and listened to television church ministries. Her local attendance was to Mt. Tabor Christian Fellowship Church.

She was a Methodist Church Cub Scout Den Mother for five years, a member of Miller Chapel Grange and the Rebekah Lodge, a school bus driver in the 1940's, an employee of Harden and Helber Meats for three years and a Lancaster factory worker for several years.

Surviving are a son, Frederick A. (Sue) Dougherty; daughter-in-law, Nancy Dougherty both of Logan, Ohio; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; ten great, great-grandchildren; one brother, Pearl S. Rathburn Jr., of Baltimore, Ohio; three sisters, Louise Duffey & Ida Higgins of Mt. Vernon, Ohio and Thelma Layman of Utica, Ohio.

Besides her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Edward E. Dougherty; granddaughter in-law, Connie Nameth Dougherty; great-grandson, Troy Cooke and a sister, Rosetta Smith.

A private funeral service will be held at Roberts Funeral Home with her grandson John Dougherty officiating. There will be no calling hours.

Burial will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good-Hope Township, Hocking County, Ohio.
