Paul Leroy "Roy" Rieder age
93, formerly of Logan, Ohio passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010 at The Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Born September 4, 1916 in Nelsonville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clarence
Wesley and Sylvia Marie (Skiver) Rieder.
Roy married Dorothy "Jody"
(Vore) Rieder on October 12, 1935 and they were married for sixty years until her death in 1995. He was a WWII Army Veteran
serving in France and Germany and held the longest active membership at the Logan VFW. After being discharged from the Army,
he and his brother Victor owned Rieder Brothers Sohio Service Station for twenty-five years. In 1977 he retired as Hocking
County Highway Superintendent and moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. In retirement he enjoyed playing shuffleboard and was inducted
into the Shuffleboard Hall of Fame in 1982. He enjoyed walking and walked up to one hundred and twenty miles a month until
after his ninetieth birthday. He was an active member of Colonial Colony Community Church where he served on the Board of
Elders and sang in the choir.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara
Jean (Glassford) Rieder; two sons, Stephen W. (Suellen) Rieder of Logan, Ohio and Christopher D. (Ruthie) Rieder of Orlando,
Florida; daughter, Linda L. (Joe) Demaree of Massillon, Ohio; Son-in-Law, George A. (Janet) Mara of Canal Winchester, Ohio;
sister, Arlene (Terry) Smith of Dayton, Ohio; sister-in-law, Grace Rieder of Ormond Beach, Florida; twelve grandchildren and
twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents he is preceded
in death by his first wife, Dorothy Josephine "Jody" (Vore) Rieder, December 24, 1995, daughter, Charlotte Jane
Mara, brother, Victor V. Rieder and four sisters, Opal Devol, Theda Wilkinson, Bonna E. Rutherford, Mary Lou Smith and one
granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday,
June 10 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio with Reverend Clarence M. Thompson officiating.
Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, Ohio with a Military graveside service being
conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
