David Franklin Kelch, aged 76 of Logan, Ohio, passed away at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
Born January 18, 1950, he was the son of the late Roy Earl and Leta Joyce (Hulse) Kelch.
During life, David was a policeman with 26 years of service and former Police Chief for the City of Logan. He was a former member of the Logan Kiwanis Club and had served as Governor and as Lieutenant Governor of the Kiwanis 9th Division.
David is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Kathy Jean (Humphrey) Kelch; son, Christopher Kelch of California; grandchildren, Rebekka Kelch, Emily Kelch, and Samantha Kelch; and brothers, Roy E. (Karen) Kelch Jr. of Logan, Ohio and James (Sue) Kelch of Texas.
A Celebration of David’s Life officiated by Pastor Jack Johnson will be held at the Shepherd of the Valley United Brethren in Christ Church in Logan, Ohio at 12 Noon on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. Visitation will be held at Shepherd of the Valley from 10 AM until time of service on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, the Kelch family suggests donations in David’s memory may be made to support the food pantry at the Shepherd of the Valley United Brethren in Christ Church, 297 Riff Avenue, Logan, OH 43138.
