Dorothy Mae (Harwood) Rardain

Dorothy Mae Rardain, aged 88 of Logan, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Logan, Ohio.

Born May 23, 1935 in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late William Monroe and Eva Mae (Lee) Harwood.

Dorothy was a devoted wife to her late husband of 64 years, George Melvin Rardain (2017). She worked as a teacher’s aide for 38 years before retiring from the Logan-Hocking School District. She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church and the Hocking Valley Historical Car Club. Everyone that knew Dorothy loved her. She had a heart of gold and never met a person (or furry friend) she didn’t love.

She is survived by her son, George M. (Tammy) Rardain II of Logan, Ohio; daughter, Carole Ann (Ricky L.) Nelson of Logan, Ohio; grandchildren, Alexandria (Liam) Maloney, Joshua Rardain, David Rardain, Allison Nelson (Ricky Lewis), Tyler (Megan) Nelson, and Austin Nelson; great-grandchildren, Cody Hartman, Conner Hartman, Callie Lewis, Camyrn Lewis, Morgan Nelson, and Henry Maloney; brother, William Eugene (Shirley) Harwood of Logan, Ohio; sister, Marjorie Ann Saving of Logan, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, George Melvin Rardain.

A funeral service officiated by Reverend Michael Adkins will take place at the Roberts Funeral Home at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. Visitation will take place from 4-7 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at the Roberts Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral service in Knollwood Cemetery in Falls Township, Hocking County, Ohio.
