Ernest Lee Hughes

Ernest Lee Hughes, aged 94 of Logan, Ohio passed away peacefully Thursday, October 20, 2022 at his residence.

Born February 9, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Della “Dellie” Ellis  and Margaret Lena (Euler) Hughes.

Ernie was an electrician for 39 years and a proud member of the IBEW Local #683 for 71 years.  He was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Logan. Ernie was also a member of Logan Moose Lodge. He was a former member of Logan Eagles and the Motorcycle Lamplighters Club. Ernie was honored to have ridden his motorcycle on both the Indianapolis and Daytona Beach speedways. He loved to farm, fish and hunt and enjoyed golfing and dancing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Kathleen (Cruise) Hughes; one son, Brian (Therese) Hughes of Canal Winchester, Ohio; two daughters, Kathleen M. (Chad) Hutchison and Stephanie A. (Michael) Rutter, both of Logan; 8 grandchildren, Angela and Timothy Hughes, Jonah (Alyssa) Hutchison, Kaleb (Christine) Hutchison, and Jenna, Ethan and Savanna Rutter; and 3 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Ashley Hatmaker and Huckson Hutchison.

Besides his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by his sister, Eunice Jurgensmier.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 PM, Monday, October 24, 2022 at St. John Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen L. Krile officiating.

Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at Roberts Funeral Home- Logan from 4-8 PM on Sunday, October 23, 2022, followed by a vigil service officiated by Dcn. Donald A. Robers.
