Gerald "Jerry" H. Green, age 87 of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Lanfair Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Lancaster, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 18, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Noel B. and Mary Dolores "Doe" (Kemper) Green.
Jerry graduated from Cathedral Latin High School in Cleveland, Ohio. In February of 1955, immediately following graduation, he was enlisted into the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Germany. Following his active-duty discharge in February of 1957, he moved to Lancaster, Ohio with his parents. Jerry soon was employed at Valley View Golf Course in Lancaster where he became superintendent. In 1958, along with a close relative, he opened the Lancaster Physical Culture Studio and operated said business until 1961. During that time Jerry also worked as a crane operator with AT&T in Columbus, Ohio and retired from there in 1993. His retirement and future of golf was cut short due to a stroke in 1993. Jerry’s passions in life included golfing, milkshakes, coaching little league baseball and sharing his Ponce Inlet, Florida home with his children and grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by many.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Fern (Ramey) Green; three children, Jeff Green of Lancaster, Ohio, Laurie (Galen) Stiverson of West Lafayette, Indiana and Steven (Jennifer) Green of Lancaster, Ohio; fifteen grandchildren, Jordan Green of Lancaster, Ohio, Matthew (Olivia) Green of Lancaster, Ohio, and Jenna (Shane) Bigham of Aviano, Italy, with their mother, Tina Green of Lancaster, Ohio and Bailey and Bella Green both of Lancaster, Ohio; Sarah (Travis) Shegog of Glenford, Ohio, Emilia (Keith) Hanson of Croton, Ohio, Claire (Rob) Cochran of Lafayette, Indiana, Christian and Camille Stiverson both of West Lafayette, Indiana; Landon (Whitney Harris) Green, Alaina Green, Ethan Green with their mother, Heidi Green all of Lancaster, Ohio and Roen and Liam Green both of Lancaster, Ohio; ten great-grandchildren, Wesley, Eleanor and Theo Shegog, Breck Hanson, Rhett, Ruby, Rhen and Ramey Cochran, Harper Green and Pierson Bigham; brothers-in-law, Ronald Ramey of Lancaster, Ohio and Thomas “Tim” Roberts of Logan, Ohio; numerous nieces and nephews; and beloved four-legged furry friend, Penny.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his only sister, Marjorie "Marge" Anne Roberts (2009); in-laws, Norwood and Evelyn Ramey; one sister-in-law, Esther Ramey.
Friends may call from 5-7 P.M., Friday, February 26, 2021 at Roberts Funeral Home, 60 West Hunter St., Logan, Ohio.
A private family funeral service will follow with Joshua Nowell Martin officiating.
A private graveside service will be held in Maple Grove Cemetery, Lancaster, Ohio with Deacon Frank E. Sullivan officiating.
