Helen "Esther" (Chesser) Bare

Helen “Esther” Bare, aged 95 of Logan, Ohio, formerly of McArthur, Ohio, passed away at home on Tuesday, November 5, 2024.

Born May 3, 1929 in McArthur, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late George Elbert and Bessie Maud (Brooks) Chesser.

During life, Esther worked as a clerical assistant for Dr. Thomas Price in Logan. She was also a property manager at McArthur Manor Apartments in McArthur and assistant director of the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center. Esther was valedictorian of the Zaleski High School Class of 1947, of which she was the last living member. She was a proud member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary in New Albany, Ohio. Esther also greatly enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, reading, playing solitaire, and doing word search puzzles.

Esther is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Tuck) Conner, Becky Schorr, and Karen (Delmar) Allison; grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Allison, Jenny (Joe) Oiler, Lance (Michelle) Allison, Jerrod (Shannon) Schorr, and Jamie Schorr-Barnett; great-grandchildren, Jacob Oiler, Loren Schorr, Nathan Beckner, Alyssa Beckner, Jaide Allison, Dylan Allison, Karah Allison, Conner Close, Aiden Close, and Colbie Barnett; special nephew, Jim Dixon; as well as several other nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Willie B. Bare; granddaughter, Stephanie Conner Close; great-grandson, Cody Allison; sisters, Florence Ross, Anna Belle Sloma, June Dixon, and Rosalene Harkins; and brothers, Charles Chesser, Marvin Chesser, and a set of infant twin brothers.

Per Esther’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Burial will be held in Elk Cemetery in McArthur, Ohio at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Esther’s name may be made to The Pickering House- 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, OH 43130.
