Howard Francis Schrader Sr., age 96 of Logan, Ohio passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at The Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio.
Born November 26, 1924 in Logan, he was the son of the late Nicholas Leroy and Ida Mae (Poling) Schrader.
Howard formerly worked at Walsh Bakery, was a truck driver for CC Chute Trucking Company in Logan, and was a former manager of Quaker State Stage Coach Inn Gas Station in Logan. Howard owned and operated Howard’s Gulf Service Station for 30 years. In 1978, Howard and wife Hilda were honored by the State of Ohio as foster parents of the year.
Howard is survived by two sons, Howard Francis “Bud” (Beverly) Schrader Jr. and Steven Hugh Schrader both of Logan; two daughters, Ruth Evelyn Schrader of Detroit Michigan and Kimberly Sue Heidlebaugh of Logan; eight grandchildren, Nicki, Katrina, Brian, Bethany, Kelsey, Brandon, Tonie, and Paula; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Lucille (Stephenson) Schrader (2000); son-in-law Larry Heidlebaugh; grandchildren William Edward Nixon and Jennifer Nixon; great-grandson Trenton Schrader; one brother, George Leroy “Bud” Schrader; and sister Eileen Conrad.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Roberts Funeral Home – Logan, Ohio with Pastor Gary Keller officiating.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations may be made in Howard’s memory to FairHope Hospice and Palliative Care, 282 Sells Road, Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
Guests are required to follow current pandemic recommendations by wearing masks and practicing social distancing.
