With profound sadness, we share the passing of our beloved Jimmy Dale Griffin, aged 64 of Logan, Ohio, who passed away at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center on Saturday, September 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family and with his wife and daughters his “baby dolls” in his arms.
Born August 10, 1960 in Leesburg, Florida, he was the son of the late Floyd and Evelyn (White) Griffin. Jimmy was a man of immense wisdom and dedication, cherishing every moment spent with his loved ones. Jimmy held many roles throughout his life, but his favorite roles were being a husband, dad, and best of all Papaw. He loved nothing more than spending time with his grandbabies.
During life, Jimmy worked as a cabinetmaker for many years before working for Selkirk Metalbestos. He was an avid collector of coins and marbles, as well as various wares from eBay. An outdoorsman, Jimmy especially liked fishing and watching hummingbirds. Jimmy also enjoyed watching wrestling.
Jimmy fought a courageous battle against Esophageal Cancer for 5 years. Despite spending much time in and out of hospitals, he never lost his positivity or his will to live, and most importantly his faith in Jesus. In Jimmy’s final days, his mind was so strong but yet his body was so weak. Although he could not verbally communicate he had written to his family “Today will be my last day, stay calm.” He let his family know that a white angel visited him and that he talked to God, and it was time for him to go on home to heaven. He displayed such bravery in his final moments and in his unselfish ways he still made sure all of his family was going to be ok. While he left us too soon, the impact he had on his family will be felt forever.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Tina Marie (Bush) Griffin; daughters, Julie (Josh) Daubenmire of Logan, Ohio and Jessica (Jeremy Larsen) Griffin of Logan, Ohio; four grandchildren, Makayla, Makenzie, and Griffin Daubenmire and Hailey Griffin; sisters, Betty Griffin of Logan, Ohio, Gail Gouin of Florida, and Jane Westfall of Florida; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Dean Bush; sisters, Debra Griffin and Patricia Boutwell; and brother, Steve Griffin. A funeral service officiated by Reverend Mark E. Barrell will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio. Burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery in Logan, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 4-7 on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, the Griffin family suggests donations in Jimmy’s memory be made to the Roberts Funeral Home.
