John Michael “Mike” Cruise, aged 76 of Anchorage, Alaska, passed away at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
Born December 16, 1947 in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harold F. “Pinky” and A. Kathleen “Kate” Cruise.
Mike served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Throughout his lifetime, Mike was a man who wore many different hats; a skilled carpenter by trade in California and various places in the West, a logger in Alaska, and a bartender in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to name a few. Besides his love of travel, Mike enjoyed watching sports, fishing, golfing, and riding his self-propelled bicycle. Occasionally, Mike would return to Ohio to visit his family and friends. Toward the end of his life, he ventured back to Alaska, a place he loved, before eventually passing away in Anchorage.
Mike is survived by his sister, Susan (Cruise) Hughes of Logan, Ohio; brothers, Jim (Karen) Cruise of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Tom Cruise of Columbus, Ohio, and Bob Cruise of Columbus, Ohio; sister-in-law Jean Cruise of Logan, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Cruise; and his brother-in-law, Ernie Hughes.
A graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery at 11 AM on Saturday, June 8, 2024 with Father Stephen L. Krile officiating, where the Hocking County Honor Guard will conduct a military service.
Arrangements by Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.
