John Charles Hollaway, aged 78 of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022 at Embassy of Logan, Ohio.
Born June 26, 1944, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late John C. and Mary Eleanor (Newman) Hollaway.
John worked as an electrician for the State of Ohio and many other businesses over his career. He was known as a master at his craft and could be called upon to fix anything when someone needed assistance. John was an avid hunter and outdoorsman, who loved the Hocking Hills and all it had to offer. Lovingly called “Pete” by his family, he was a carefree person who would do anything for anyone. He was a state champion wrestler at Pleasant View High School and was a huge fan of Ohio State Football. John enjoyed astronomy and could often be found stargazing at the John Glenn Astronomy Park in Hocking County. He will be missed by many friends and family.
He is survived by one son, Timothy Allen (Kathy) Hollaway of Logan; one daughter, Rhonda Marie (Wayne) Drye of Salisbury, North Carolina, and two children from his late wife Cea, Aaron and Anne Turbett; five grandchildren, Sara, Christopher, Michael, Clinton and Blake; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Hollaway of Columbus, Ohio; and one sister, Sue Hill of Hilliard, Ohio, plus many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Traverse and wife, Cea Hollaway.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, with Edward Traverse officiating.
Burial will follow in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Good Hope Twp., Hocking Co., Ohio.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 11 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
