John Robert "Pete" McGuire Jr.

John Robert “Pete” McGuire Jr., aged 86 of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Carlin House Assisted Living in Logan, Ohio.

Born November 6, 1937 in Union Furnace, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Robert and Kathryn Marie (Smith) McGuire Sr.

Pete was a 1955 graduate of Logan High School and former member of the Army National Guard. He worked many years for Drummond Construction, which he loved, before retiring in 2007. During his younger years, Pete was an avid bowler around the area. He enjoyed reading his daily newspapers and watching the Buckeyes play football and basketball. Most of all, Pete enjoyed being entertained by his grandkids.

He is survived by one son, John Nicholas “Nick” (Amy) McGuire; two daughters, Emily Ann (Josh) Martin and Lynnette Dawn Wood; eight grandchildren, Connor, Abram, Joe, Lydia, Simon and Gabby Martin and Molly and Anna McGuire; and aunt, Betsy Lax.

Besides his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Kay (Blankenship) McGuire and infant grandchildren, John Martin and Alyssa Wood.

A private graveside service will be held in Oak Grove Cemetery- Logan.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Pete’s memory may be made to St. John Catholic School, 321 N. Market St., Logan, OH, 43138.
