Joseph Noel "Joe" Hanning Sr.

Joseph Noel “Joe” Hanning Sr., aged 78 of Lancaster, Ohio, formerly of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 12, 2025 at the Pickering House in Lancaster.

Born February 11, 1947 in New Straitsville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ernest Jefferson and Rosa “Marie” (Friel) Hanning.

Joe retired in 1997 from General Electric in Logan and was a member of the Olivedale Senior Citizens Center in Lancaster. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians and playing ping pong with his friends at Olivedale.

He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sandy Kay Hanning; daughter, Rebecca Jo (Mike) Kost of Logan, Ohio; son, Joseph Noel (Jayeanna) Hanning Jr. of Crozet, Virginia; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Hanning of Rockbridge, Ohio and Duane Hanning of Lancaster, Ohio; and two sisters, Dorothy Winters of Heath, Ohio and Carolyn Elick of Logan, Ohio.

Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brother, Lawrence Hanning and sister, Barbara Six.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Olivedale Senior Citizens Center, 253 Boving Rd., Lancaster, OH 43130.
