Joseph Michael “Joe” Freeman, aged 77 of Logan, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Joe was born January 1, 1949 in Logan, Ohio to the late Hollis L. and Nina Gail (Morgan) Freeman. After graduating Logan High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and proudly served with Mike Company, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines. Joe served in Vietnam from 1968-1969 and was a recipient of two Purple Hearts. After honorable discharge from the military, Joe was employed by Ohio Power/AEP from 1970 to 2013 before retiring.
Joe married his high school sweetheart, Kathy J. (Hartmann) Freeman. They have one son, Mitch Freeman. Joe enjoyed traveling and was an avid walker for over 50 years, walking the streets of Logan with his late dog, Lucy, and current dog, Henry J. He enjoyed years of bench rest shooting competitions and made many friends throughout the sport. Joe loved music and played the banjo. He also enjoyed going to local Cruise-Ins and spending time with fellow car enthusiasts. Joe very much enjoyed time with his family, his friends, and his dogs.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Kathy J. (Hartmann) Freeman; son, Mitch (Tami) Freeman; Tabitha (Jay John) Lower, Angela and Cady; sisters, Mary (Jerry) Gerken and Loretta Freeman; brother-in-law, Michael Hartmann; sister-in-law Karen (Robert) Trisket; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Besides his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia “Ginny” (Freeman) Oloshove.

A funeral service officiated by Joshua N. Martin will be held at 1 PM at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio on Wednesday, February 4, 2026. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, Ohio where graveside military honors will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.
