Lausie “Pearl” Campbell, aged 101 of Logan, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at her residence.
Born September 19, 1924 in Jumping Branch, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Fred Emmett and Manerva Angeline (Via) Cochran.
Pearl was a member of Kline Memorial Global Methodist Church in Logan. During the war, she worked at the Blue Boy Café in Kentucky, where her brother brought home a guy for her to meet that ended up being her future husband, Bob. Together they started the Boots & Saddle 4-H Club in the 1960’s.
I could say our mom was a homemaker, but she was much more than that! She was a chef, fixing 3 meals a day from scratch; a doctor, fixing all of our cuts, scrapes and tumbles; a driver for all the errands she ran; a lawyer, settling all of our arguments; a preacher, keeping us informed of bible verses; a seamstress, making and repairing clothes for us, along with doing laundry and how to hang clothes on the line correctly, taking them down and sprinkle them with water, rolling them up and putting them in a bag so the next day they’d be ready for ironing; and a policeman, which we had to tell her where we were going and when we would be back, or she would come get us.
She started writing in journals to record memories about her childhood, family life, and the many trips that she and dad had taken. She had so much to give, including becoming a foster parent. Many children stayed at our home until they could be placed or go back to their parents. She lived by the Golden Rule and expected us to do the same. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals and wanted to watch any kind of sports that had action.
When we yelled for her, she would answer “YooHoo!” from any part of the house. When the grandkids came to visit, she would give them the peace sign and when we left, she would say “Keep looking up and hurry back.” She quit quilting when she was 98 but continued to crochet, color and work crossword puzzles. She read the Bible every day and thanked God for the many blessings in her life.
Pearl is survived by one son, Darrell “Lee” (Jean) Campbell of Logan; two daughters, Rita (Keith) Thomas and Roseanna (Donald Roshon) Wilson, both of Logan; grandchildren, Brian and Bonnie Campbell, Jason and Margie Fought, Gregory and Karen Campbell (2023), Kathy and Tom Littlefield, Fred Lee, Judy and Boyce Lineberger, Leighanne and Chad Bennett, Chad and Valerie Thomas, Cheryl and Chris Lucas, Susan Short, Jenny Sisco, and Robbie Wilson; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Norma Cochran.
Besides her parents, Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Perry “Bob” Campbell (1993); son, Dale Keith Campbell (2020); brothers, Basil (Carrie) Cochran, Lacy (Pauline) Cochran, and Jack Cochran; sisters, Annabelle (Carl) Bennett and Betty (Bea) Wills; and great-grandson, Kort Campbell.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Roberts Funeral Home- Logan, Ohio, officiated by Pastors Michael Adkins and Larry Cochran.
Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery- Logan, Ohio.
By request of the family, a joint visitation for Pearl and her beloved son Dale Campbell (2020) will be held from 4-6 PM on Thursday, April 16, 2026, followed by a Celebration of Life for Dale at 6:00 PM, officiated by Melissa Collingsworth.
