1919-2021

Margaret Viola Good, 101, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Logan, Ohio passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021.

Born December 19, 1919 in Hocking County on Orchard Crest Farm, she was daughter of the late Walter Irvin Stone and Nellie (Borden) Stone. Margaret attended Scotts Creek Elementary School and Logan High School in Logan, Ohio. She graduated Logan High School in May 1937, where Margaret became active in 4H Club and learned how to cook and sew.  However, her ambition was to attend college in the field of fashion design.

Margaret took a job during WWII as a secretary in fraud investigation for Ohio Bureau of Unemployment. She married Frederick Good April 11, 1942 at United Methodist Church in Logan, Ohio. Soon after they were married Fred was shipped overseas. In the 44 months Fred was overseas they wrote over 1,000 letters to each other. While Fred was in the war, Margaret lived in Columbus, Ohio. Upon Fred’s return they had four children together; Sharon, Theodore, Deborah, and William.

In her later years, Margaret was very involved in local community organizations (Trinity United Methodist Church, Girls Scouts of America, Eastern Star, 4H) in Logan, Ohio. She also enjoyed gardening, growing fruits and vegetables, and harvesting produce yearly in Logan, OH.

Margaret enjoyed traveling and was able to do much of that with her children and grandchildren. Some of her vacations included:  England, the Caribbean, Canada, and Florida. In her 90’s she traveled to:  Alaska, Cape Cod, Florida and California. She appreciated genealogy and even organized a family trip to England in order to explore her family background. 

Fred and Margaret moved to Columbus, Ohio to be closer to family in 2002 after almost 60 years in Logan, Ohio. They resided at Worthington Christian Village for 20 years.

Margaret is survived by her loving children; two sons, Theodore F. Good of Columbus, Ohio and William A. Good of Columbus, Ohio and daughter Deborah (Roman) Czech of Columbus, Ohio and six grandchildren; Mindi (John) Griffin, Stasia (Fadi) Suleiman, Andrzej (Leah) Czech, Allison Good, Will Good and Grace Good and three great grandchildren; Connor Griffin, Aya Suleiman, and Hamza Suleiman.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Frederick Good, daughter Sharon (Phil) Conrad, two sisters Marie (Danny) Robinette, Frances (Robby) Robbins, and one brother Walter (Gertrude) Stone.

Margaret will be buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be may be made in Margaret’s name to the Brighten Your Future at http://www.brightenyourfuturelogan.org/.
