Mary Jo Hahn, 64, from Tampa, died at her home on Dec 10th, 2023. Born June 2nd, 1959 in Mt. Carmel Ill., she was the daughter of the late Granville Benjamin Turner and Mary Eloise (Davis) Turner. She is survived by three sons all from the Tampa area, Benjamin (Violet) Hahn, Nathan Hahn and Jonah Hahn and her favorite granddaughter Annie Mac Hahn. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard Lee Turner.
Mary Jo has been on staff at Keystone Community Church since 2005 as the worship and music director. She has been serving in the creative arts ministries for over 30 years leading and teaching children youth and adults. Mary Jo is a buckeye at heart and studied music education at Ohio University. When she’s not leading worship or the music at KCC, Mary jo is very active in the community, directing the Carrollwood Cultural Center Community chorus (5C Chorus) and being the musical director for community theater productions. She taught private voice and piano, and accompanied students for area school competitions. She was also able to take her Carrollwood Community Chorus to New York and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2019 and several times at Disney’s Epcot Center for their Christmas Candlelight service. She has recently been working with Carrollwood Day School and sharing her musical talents with their students who she truly loved.
Mary Jo loves hanging out with her family. She has been married to her husband Joe for 42 years and they have three boys, Ben , Nathan, and Jonah, a daughter in love, Violet, and granddaughter Annie, all of which she loved very much. She enjoys the beach, and sports, especially Ohio State Football , and Tampas' Bucs and Rays! She loved her many Golden retrievers through the years.
Mary Jo has a passion for empowering and equipping others to minister through music and the creative arts, and to simply draw attention to His nearness…to His presence through music.
Visitation is at Bay Hope Church from 1 to 145, with Celebration of Life service beginning at 2pm Saturday Dec 16th. In lieu of flowers, Mary Jo suggest you support her church https://keystonecommunity.org/give or the Carrollwood Cultural Center.
