Ray E. Hoke, aged 79 of Logan, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at his residence.
Born August 11, 1943 in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was the son of the late Everett G. and Grace Avenell (Williams) Hoke.
Ray was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era. He was also called upon to travel the world as a long-time flight mechanic. Ray retired from Flight Controls and also had stints with Rockwell International Corporation and Douglas Aircraft Company, where he helped build military aircraft. Ray enjoyed scenic rides on his Harley and spending time with his family and friends.
Ray is survived by two sons, Troy E. (Paula) Hoke of Logan, Ohio and Dustin Hoke of California; one daughter, Gina (Larry) Helsel of Florida; their mother, Billie K. Hoke of Logan; six grandchildren, Adam Helsel, Emily (Jesus) Mora, Amanda Warren, Libby Hoke, Nathan Hoke and Annabel Wilson; niece, Terry Rutter; nephew, Greg Solt; special friends, Tom Denney, Barbara Bosch and Ruth Ann Van Sickle; and beloved companion, Jitter.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by one sister, Lena Solt.
A private celebration of Ray’s life will be held at the convenience of his family.
