Retha Faye (Smith) Walker

Retha Faye Walker, aged 89 of Logan, Ohio, passed away at Hocking Valley Community Hospital in Logan, Ohio on Monday, November 13, 2023.

Born January 6, 1934 in Logan, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Orval Guy and Clara Etta (Pierson) Smith.

Retha was a devoted homemaker as well as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She was a member of the Smith Chapel United Methodist Church of Logan, Ohio. Retha was one of the founding members of the Smith Chapel Food and Clothing Missions, and served as a volunteer for many years.

Retha is survived by her twin sister, Letha Mae (Smith) Nihiser of Rockbridge, Ohio; sons, Bruce (Kim) Walker of Logan, Ohio and Joshua (Peter) Dagger-Walker of New York City, New York; daughters, Lori (Rod) Schlingerman of Mt. Gilead, Ohio, Cathy Allison of Lancaster Ohio, and Melissa Hilliard of Rockbridge, Ohio; grandchildren, Carissa Stewart, Katie Kittle, Megan Nicholson, Angela Cooper, Jonathan Allison, Lyndale Reisinger, and Heath Hilliard; and great-grandchildren, Fayth Chandler, Matthew Stewart, Breyer Cooper, Annabelle Cooper, Emma Cooper, Ruby Allison, Violet Allison, Maura Reisinger, Logan Reisinger, Brandon Sudlow, Walker Kittle, Madeline Kittle, Andrew Kittle, William Nicholson, and Harrison Nicholson.

Besides her parents, Retha was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Curtis Walker; son-in-law, Kenneth Hilliard; and siblings, Rosamond Hurst, Harold Smith, Glendon Smith, Bette Keffer, Kathryn (Kate) Sparks, Donald Smith, Velma Bush, Jean Burcham, and Richard (Dick) Smith.

A funeral service will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at 1 PM officiated by Reverend Ricci R. Arthur and Reverend Dan Fuchs. Burial will follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery in Green Township, Hocking County, Ohio.

Visitation will take place from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 as well as from 12 PM until time of service on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at the Roberts Funeral Home.
