He also worked at his family’s store, Harden and Helber Supermarket. He then worked as a laborer for the Carborundum Company in Logan, Ohio before retiring. He also retired as a custodian for the Logan-Hocking School District. Dick was also a co-owner of Lake Logan Campgrounds for 15 years. A proud member of the Ohio National Guard, Dick was the first member of his Logan unit to retire with 20 years of service. Dick also had a great love for sports, coaching little league softball, industrial junior high flag football, and receiving coach-of-the-year honors for his time coaching little league baseball. An avid golfer, he had 5 lifetime holes-in-one. Dick was a proud member of Kline Memorial Global Methodist Church in Enterprise, Ohio for 40 years.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jolene Ann (Gastin) Harden; daughters, Joelle (Roger) Giffin and Jennifer (Craig) Phillips; brother-in-law, Don (Sharon) Keplar; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his son, Richard (Rich) Harden in 2016; and his father and mother-in-law, Art and Marie Keplar.
