Robert Michael Thompson, aged 87 of Logan, Ohio, formerly of Richwood, Ohio, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, March 7, 2026.
Born February 13, 1939 in Claibourne, Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Osgood and Nellie Ruth Irene (Yarrington) Thompson.
During life, Robert worked as a plant manager at O.M. Scott’s in Marysville, Ohio. He was a graduate of Richwood High School where he was an award-winning basketball and football player as well as a track athlete. Robert attended the First United Methodist Church in Richwood, Ohio. Civically inclined, Robert served as President of the Richwood Lions Club, President of the Hocking County Historical Society, and on the Hocking County Tourist Association Board. He also had a great affinity for antiques. Most of all, Robert was a devoted family man and thoroughly loved his family.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Karen S. Thompson; daughters, Robin Lynne (David Hendrix) Carter of Rockbridge, Ohio and Valerie Thompson (Marcel) Ruetsche of Logan, Ohio; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Shank, Mary Alice Fry, and Wilma Ross.
A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
