Roger Wayne Montgomery, aged 81 of Lancaster, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Paramount Senior Living in Westerville, Ohio.
Born September 6, 1940 in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of the late Leverett C. and Gladys I. (Snider) Montgomery.
Roger was a 1959 graduate of Logan High School and member of the First Baptist Church in Logan. He worked in the sheet metal/shipping and receiving departments at Selkirk Metalbestos for 44 years (1959-2003). Roger was a member of the Ohio Army National Guard: Battery A, 2nd Battalion, 174th Air Defense Artillery Armory in Logan. He was also a member of the Ohio Air National Guard: 160th Civil Engineering Squadron, 121st Air Refueling Wing, Rickenbacker OANG Base in Lockbourne, Ohio. Roger retired as a Master Sergeant following 26 years of service from 1963-1995.
He is survived by two sons, Ryan (Tammy) Montgomery and Kelly W. Montgomery, both of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Riley, Zachary and Ethan Montgomery; and one sister, Judy Mae (Doyle R.) Nye of Logan.
Besides his parents, Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Linda K. (Redick) Montgomery; brother, Roy O. Montgomery; grandson, Clayton J. Montgomery; and an infant grandchild.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Shaw Cemetery, Falls Twp., Hocking Co., Ohio with Dr. Art Fulks, Lead Pastor of First Baptist Church in Lancaster, Ohio officiating.
A military service will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.
