Ronald Eugene Schultz

Ronald Eugene Schultz, 89, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on August 29th, 2023. Born on July 14, 1934 in Logan, Ohio, he was the son of the late Keith and Mildred Schultz of Logan, Ohio.

As a Logan High School graduate, Ron started his career as a civil servant after first joining the United States Marine Corps; he proudly served his country as a dedicated patriot. Civil service began after becoming a Marine in law-enforcement as a police officer in Logan, Ohio. Opportunity knocked and Ron opened the door with a move to Westerville, Ohio, working as a policeman and then volunteer firefighter/paramedic. Ron was the first full-time firefighter hired when the city transitioned from a volunteer to full-time service. He augmented his pursuit by also becoming a firefighting instructor and arson investigator. Ron retired to private life as the Assistant Chief Firefighter of Westerville, Ohio.

Ron married Marlene Enderle on September 16, 1956. They shared a passion for travel and in their 67 years of marriage had conquered (smile) most of North America and Europe. Ron enjoyed woodworking and model railroading. When he wasn’t turning wood on his lathe or busy running his railroad, he assisted neighbors and friends with whatever they needed. When he sat down, (rarely) he enjoyed reading his favorite authors, Zane Grey and Louis Lamour.

Besides his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, Keith Schultz, Jr; and his daughter-in-law Sybil.

He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Ann (Enderle) Schultz; children, David Schultz, Tom (Laura) Schultz, and Sue (Matt) Bell; grandchildren, Tommy, Elizabeth, James, and Michael; great- grandchildren Tristan, Oliver, Chloe, and Bella; twin brother Don; and his sister, Marlene.

A memorial service will be held at 12 PM, September 16, 2023, at Roberts Funeral Home with Reverend Ricci R. Arthur officiating, followed by inurnment in Shaw Cemetery, Falls Township, Hocking County, Ohio, with a military service conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard. Calling hours will be held at Roberts Funeral Home from 10 AM until time of service.
