Russell Leroy Courtney, age 87 of Rockbridge, Ohio, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at his residence.
Born December 12, 1934 in Greendale, Ohio, he was the son of the late Fred Russell and Florence K. (Mount) Courtney.
Russell had worked as a truck driver beginning his career with Logan Pottery and later retiring as a driver from Zebco Industries of Lancaster, Ohio. Russell enjoyed woodworking, working in the yard, fishing, and being outdoors.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ometta Jean (Cook) Courtney of Rockbridge; four sons, Bruce David (Wilma) Courtney of Logan, Tim (Mandy McDowell) Courtney of New Plymouth, Ohio, Russell D. Courtney of Graysville, Ohio, and Ronnie Lee (Angela) Courtney Sr. of Union Furnace, Ohio; two daughters, Connie L. Courtney of Rockbridge and Deborah D. Gabriel of Logan; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Douglas Courtney of Union Furnace, Ohio; three sisters, Mary Davis of Union Furnace, Pearl Kearns of Nelsonville, Ohio, and Wanda Mohler of Logan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Russell was preceded in death by brothers; Tom, John, and Jerry Courtney and infant sister, Barbara Courtney.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio with Joshua N. Martin officiating.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery, Falls Township, Hocking County, Ohio.
