Sandra Landis Obituary

Sandra Lee Landis, age 76 of Logan, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.

Sandy was born March 27, 1945 in Ridgeway, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert W. and Betty L. (Hendrickson) Swanseen. She moved from Syracuse, NY to Linwood, NJ in 1960, this is where she began her love for the beach and the sea.

Sandy was a 1963 graduate of Mainland High School, Linwood, NJ. She attended Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree from DePaul University.

Sandra arrived in Perry County, Ohio in the early 1980’s and helped structure innovative residential services for people with disabilities who were returning to the county from state facilities. As a Perry County resident, she helped form Sunday Creek Associates in 1990, a community development organization that has undertaken many community improvements, including the Tecumseh Theater Restoration. She served as fiscal officer for Sunday Creek for 31 years.

Sandy loved nature, especially pontoon boating on Burr Oak Lake, camping in the Great Smokey Mountains, and visiting the “Jersey Shore”.

Sandy is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law: Jeffery S. and Cyndi Landis of Canal Winchester, Ohio; Gregg D. and Jeannine Landis of Logan, Ohio.  

The greatest love of “Grandma Sandy” were her grandchildren Hannah and Harrison of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Caiden, Mollie, and Ryann of Logan, Ohio.

She is also survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law: David and Vanessa Swanseen of Mifflinburg, PA and Karl and Debbie Swanseen of New Gretna, NJ; one sister-in-law, Sandy (Burrell) Swanseen of Venice, Florida; special friends John and Cindy Winnenberg and Dick and Lana Planisek. Aunt Sandra will be missed by her nieces Kristen, Amy, Kim, Jessie, Sarah, and Kollie, and her nephew David.

Sandra was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Swanseen and niece Karlene.  

There are no services scheduled at this time. Arrangements made by Roberts Funeral Home- Logan.
