Steven Edward Dougherty

Steven Edward Dougherty of Albany, Missouri, passed away at the age of 66 on April 18, 2022, surrounded by his sons and other family members.

Steve was born on December 20, 1955 in Logan, Ohio to Nancy (Spackey) Dougherty of Logan, Ohio and the late Edward Earl Dougherty. Steve graduated from Logan High School in the Class of 1974. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served from 1975 to 1979. Following his service, he worked as a truck driver for 40 years before retiring in 2018. He was also a member of the Central States Teamsters.

Steve took great pride in being a member of the United Methodist Church of Albany, Missouri. After retirement, Steve worked as a part-time school bus driver for the Gentry County School District in Albany, Missouri. He took great pride in his knowledge of history and current affairs. Steve was well-respected for helping his neighbors throughout the community of Albany.

Besides his mother, Steve is survived by two sons: Benjamin Dougherty of Logan, Ohio and Daniel Dougherty of Columbia, Missouri; five grandchildren: Ethan, Carter, Aliana and Griffin Dougherty of Missouri, and Claudia Lux of Logan, Ohio; a brother, John C. Dougherty, and three sisters: Jacqualine “Jakki” and Lori Dougherty and Pamela Sue (Dougherty) Crabtree, all of Logan, Ohio; and his mother-in-law, Neva M. Nameth, of Lancaster, Ohio.

Steve is preceded in death by his wife, Connie (Nameth) Dougherty, his brother, Frederick Earl Dougherty, and his nephew, Joseph Crabtree.

The family would like to give a special thank-you to Jim Young and his daughter, Michelle Young, for their long-time friendship and care. Steve spoke highly of them many times.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, May 21, 2022 at New Fairview Memorial Gardens in Good Hope Township, Hocking County, Ohio with Alain Saunders officiating.
