Steven Joseph "Steve" Nye

Steven Joseph “Steve” Nye, aged 53 of Logan, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at Memorial Health Systems- Athens Medical Campus in Athens, Ohio.

Born August 24, 1972, in Lancaster, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Dale and Mary Phyllis (Kilbarger) Nye.

Steve was a scale house operator at Rumpke Athens-Hocking Reclamation Center in Nelsonville, Ohio, where he could always be counted on to be ready and on time. He previously worked at Hidden Haven Shooting Preserve in Sugar Grove, Ohio for many years, and also Lincare and Kilbarger Construction, both in Logan. He was a member of Logan Lions and the Coon Hunters Club and enjoyed spending Sundays watching the Cleveland Browns. Steve loved everything outdoors, including hunting, fishing, and trap shooting. Steve will always be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

Steve is survived by his brother, William David (Crystal) Nye of Logan; two sisters, Cathy Marie Nye of Boise, Idaho and Jackie Sue (Rick) Moore of Logan; uncle, Ed (Ann) Kilbarger of Logan; aunt, Rose (Alan) Adair of Courtland, Ohio; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 1, 2025 at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio, officiated by Joshua N. Martin.

Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Lancaster, Ohio.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at the funeral home.
