W. Eugene "Gene" Hynus

W. Eugene “Gene” Hynus, aged 89 of Logan, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at the Pickering House in Lancaster, Ohio surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 29, 1935 in Somerset, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clyde I. and Ida Estella (Cannon) Hynus.

During life, Gene worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 30 years in Logan, Ohio and Bremen, Ohio before retiring in 2011. He was a veteran of the United States Army. An avid sports fan, Gene greatly enjoyed baseball, basketball, golfing, and bowling, and was a member of the inaugural class of the Perry County Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003. He was a proud member of Kline Memorial Global Methodist Church in Logan, Ohio.

Gene is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marcia J. (St. Clair) Hynus; son, Matthew (Joy) Hynus of Logan, Ohio; daughter, Heather (Matt) Carpenter of Terrace Park, Ohio; granddaughters, Jordyn (Chandler) Arms, Madison Hynus, Riley (Jordan) Castle, Grace Hynus, Claire Hynus, and Josie Hynus; great-grandchildren, Abel Arms, Baby Arms due in May, Layla Castle, and Crue Castle; sister-in-law, Barbara Deeds of Hilton Head Island, South Carolina; as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his two brothers and sister as well as in-laws, Harley and Alberta St. Clair.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Mike Adkins and Pastor Linda Ward will be held at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 3, 2025. Burial will follow in Knollwood Cemetery in Logan, Ohio where a military service will be conducted by the Hocking County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at the Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, Ohio.
