Woodrow “Woody” Lee Frasure Sr. was born October 12,1947, to Charles and Audrey (Helber) Frasure. Woody grew up In West Logan (“Mudsock”) OH with his siblings Connie, Bonnie, James, and Charles (Sonny) as well as two nieces that he viewed as sisters, Tammy, and Kim.
Woody graduated from Logan High School in 1966 and married his sweetheart, Brenda Vance, in 1967. He then went to work for the Joyce Shoe Company. Soon afterward, Woody faithfully served his country in the US Army in Vietnam. It was there that he developed a compassion for the local children, often sharing his CARE Packages that he received from home.
Upon his return from Vietnam in 1969, Woody surrendered his life to Jesus Christ at the Faith Freewill Baptist Church, then located In West Logan. Later, Woody was called into ministry and devoted his life to furthering the Kingdom. He was active in door-to-door evangelism with his church. He drove the bus for his church and the Christian school where his three kids, Janie, Jill, and Woody attended. His life was dedicated to caring for the less fortunate: children, widows, elderly, disabled, and poor. Woody served as a bi-vocational pastor in Thornville, and later for many years at Happy Hollow Community Church In Nelsonville, Ohio.
Woody was proud to support his family and ministry as a career coal miner for the Southern Ohio Coal Company in Meigs County at Mine #2 from 1975 until its closure in 2003. Afterwards, he graduated from Hocking College with an Associate’s Degree in Heavy Equipment Management and went to work for Akrosil (International Paper) in Lancaster, OH.
Woody loved his Savior, church, and family very much. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing piano, playing guitar, watching old westerns, and working on cars.
Woody passed away surrounded by his family on January 22, 2026, at The Springs at Wyandotte Trail in Lancaster, Ohio.
